Big Hit Entertainment As the Agency Releases Statement Regarding Allegations That the Fifth Reasons BTS Members Enrolled in a Masters Program in the Department of Business Related to Conscription.

Five members of BTS (Bangtan Boys) namely RM (Rap Monster), Suga, J-Hope, Jimin BTS and V have registered in the MBA program (Master of Business Administration) or Masters in business majors focusing on advertising media. Big Hit Entertainment as the agency released a statement related to allegations that their registration was related to conscription.

According to an exclusive report from Metro Seoul, RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, and V have joined Jin as students at Hanyang Cyber University. The five members will all study advertising media for their MBA programs. Jin himself registered in 2017. While the youngest member of BTS, Jungkook, did not register in this program.

According to Hanyang Cyber University, members will not register at the same time. They stated, "RM, Suga, and J-Hope register in semester 1, which starts in March 2020 while V and Jimin in semester 2, which will start in August 2020."

Hanyang Cyber University is one of 21 online universities in Korea, and selects their students based on the interview process. BTS members conduct their interviews through an online process and are accepted.

Some people suspect that BTS members register in postgraduate education to postpone their military service, because one of the provisions for delaying military service includes attending graduate school. Representatives from Big Hit Entertainment clarified that the newly registered BTS members did not register for military service reasons, but because they wanted to.

"Registering members for postgraduate is not because of their military service, but they all want to go to school because they have the will and desire to study," the agency said.

Jin, who is the oldest member, is scheduled to enlist in the military first. While the exact time has not yet been decided, it is scheduled that the singer born in 1992 will register in late 2020 or early 2021.
