EXO was not nominated for the Bonsang award at the Soribada Best K-Music Awards 2020. This also raised a question mark considering that the 9-member boy group deserved to be nominated for their sixth album, "Obsession".
Responding to public questions, the organizer finally gave an official statement. They revealed the reason EXO was deliberately not included in the Bonsang award nomination.
"Hello, this is Soribada. We have chosen our candidate list through our internal standards and regulations and in the case of EXO, they have some problems with members leaving the group during our candidate selection period (2019.08.01 - 2020.04.30) so unfortunately they have removed from the list. Thank you, "said the organizer.
But in reality, none of the EXO members left the group during the period mentioned by the Soribada Best K-Music Awards. If what Chen meant, SM Entertainment has stated that the owner's real name Kim Jongdae is still a member of EXO.
