Looking Again 8 Years of EXO's Career Path in the K-Pop World - EXO celebrates its 8th anniversary debut today, Wednesday (8/4). Boyband under the auspices of SM Entertainment has been stealing the attention since the beginning of their appearance.
SM Entertainment celebrated with the thunderous debut of the 12th member EXO. In particular, management released a series of video trailers, up to 2 opening songs before EXO officially debuted through the song 'Mama'.
The two songs, 'What is Love' and 'History', successfully represented various aspects that SM Entertainment wanted to highlight through its new boy band. Both of them managed to show off their members' amazing vocal and dance techniques.
Since then, EXO has become one of the most respected boy bands in South Korea and China. Moreover, EXO is divided into 2 sub-units, namely EXO-K and EXO-M, which focus on 2 different countries.
But in 2014 to 2015, the number of EXO members began to decrease. Kris, Luhan, and Tao decided to leave and return to China.
Until now, EXO has 9 members, namely Suho, Xiumin, Baekhyun, Chen, D.O, Chanyeol, Lay, Kai, and Sehun. The reduced number of members apparently did not affect EXO's popularity.
Songs like 'Ko Ko Bop', 'Obsession', to 'Love Shot' keep EXO at the top of the charts. The world began to glance at EXO, as evidenced from being the closing boy band at the 2018 Winter Olympics to become the first K-Pop group whose face appeared at the Burj Khalifa, Dubai.
EXO is also not only known as a musician. The members also began to explore the world of acting, especially D.O who received positive responses through all the films and dramas that he starred in.
But right now, EXO can't be active with the full number of members because Xiumin and D.O are still undergoing military service while Lay is still busy with his activities in China. Well, we are waiting for the return of EXO with 9 members, EXO-L!
