The founder of YG Entertainment was Accused of Illegal Gambling Abroad while Still Under Investigation on Allegations of Providing Prostitutes to Foreign Investors.

Yang Hyun Suk is still being investigated on charges of providing prostitutes to foreign investors. This time, the founder of YG Entertainment was accused of gambling illegally overseas.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency will conduct an internal investigation into allegations that Yang Hyun Suk gambled illegally abroad. They planned to call him for questioning after obtaining more details and information about the allegations.

In April 2019, the police obtained information that Yang Hyun Suk had gambled illegally overseas. In response to this information, the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) launched an investigation into Yang Hyun Suk's account.

According to FIU, account records show transactions totaling more than 1.3 billion won (around Rp. 15.3 billion). Accounts are created in South Korea and the United States, and the money is deposited in won, and withdrawn in USD.

The dispatch obtained various information about illegal gambling for Yang Hyun Suk in Las Vegas. It is believed that he lives in the VIP room at MGM Grand.

Yang Hyun Suk reportedly borrowed money in Las Vegas and gambled with high stakes. Gambling is still illegal for Koreans and many try to avoid the law by borrowing currency in the country where they gamble. If they win, they will return the money they borrowed. But if they lose money, they pay back the lender in won.

"You don't need to bring money to the country where you gamble. You can only borrow money there, and pay it back in Korean won," said an anonymous source.

According to FIU, Yang Hyun Suk used this kind of account. The number of unregistered foreign transactions that can be revealed by the police totals 1.3 billion won.

Yang Hyun Suk is said to have traveled to Las Vegas in February 2018 to celebrate the end of his "Mix Nine" survival program. PD Han Dong Chul and other staff members who worked at the event also joined him.

Korean law states that every citizen of that country is prohibited from gambling, whether it is at home or abroad. There is only one casino in the world that is legalized for Koreans, namely Kangwon Land. If caught gambling elsewhere, offenders can face fines of up to 20 million won or 3 years in prison.

Yang Hyun Suk immediately became a target of blasphemy by netizens. Some netizens even insinuated the Big Bang members who were said to be imitating their boss's character.

"Why do you think Big Bang ended up like that? Crime has the wrong CEO," commented one netizen. "Yang Hyun Suk and Big Bang make a lot of money. They feel free to do anything, including things that break the law. This really makes me emotional," added another netizen. "What more crime can YG kids learn from bosses like him?" concluded the other.
