Mexican authorities have made arrests in connection with the death of Jose Arredondo, Kim Samuel's father and California car dealer who was killed in Cabo San Lucas earlier this month.
Monday (29/7) night local time, the Attorney General of the State of Baja California Sur said that a man who was only identified as Roberto N. was arrested by local officials for allegedly killing Jose Arredondo.
Roberto N., a 50-year-old man from Hidalgo, Mexico, has been charged with murder in his home country. Baja California Authority Sur believes Roberto is suspected of committing a crime in someone else's company.
Even though officials did not release Roberto's last name for legal reasons, Jose's family said they knew who he was. They also believe there are other suspects behind the alleged murder, according to the KGET-TV report.
"That person was his friend (Jose Arredondo) for 20 years," said Jose's sister Laura Arredondo to local media. "They have caught one of them, but not just one (the person seen), there is more. But at least they have caught one of them and I know that person will talk (about the others)."
Jose Arredondo was a respected member of the Bakersfield community who immigrated to the United States in the 1970s from Mexico, was found dead at his home in Cabo San Lucas on July 16. Mexican officials believe that Roberto from another company allegedly beat Jose to death in a Mexican condo the day before. He later died from blunt force trauma.
His tragic death occurred a few days before his 61st birthday. Last Monday, Jose's family struggled to overcome the loss while celebrating his birthday.
"He is not a fighter, if he sees someone arguing, he will leave," Laura said, according to KGET-TV. "He's not a fighter and for someone who can do that to him, it doesn't have a name. It's very difficult for my whole family."
Samuel also spoke about an unimaginable tragedy and praised the father for his amazing character. "He really reaches out and helps people. I really hope that someday I can become a man like him," Samuel said.
Meanwhile, Kim Samuel shared a happy birthday post for his father. He uploaded his picture with the father's coffin but was deleted a little later.
