"We got a guest list for Palawan's party," the police continued. But they refused to provide further details. "Because the police investigation is still ongoing, it is difficult for us to confirm the exact number of people and the details of the investigation," the police explained.
The police decided to conduct an investigation because of a text message conversation between Seungri and former Yuri Holdings CEO Yoo In Suk in 2015 that seemed to indicate that Seungri provided prostitution services to foreign investors. There is also speculation that there may be a practice of prostitution at Seungri's birthday party in December 2017, when the singer rents out a resort in Palawan.
The police confirmed that Seungri paid for all the travel expenses of the prostitutes attending his party. Police are investigating whether travel costs are a form of compensation for prostitution. At present he is suspected of using prostitution mediation to get new investments from foreign investors or maintain investments. The police also received testimony that prostitution took place in another location beside Palawan.
But Seungri denied all charges of prostitution by claiming there was no evidence he did it. The total cost of his birthday party is estimated at around 600 million won (around Rp. 7.45 billion). Seungri claimed that he paid for all the travel expenses of the participants and not only women who were allegedly involved in prostitution services.
