Kim Se Ui, the operator of HoverLab, is accused of plotting a controversial legal move.
Kim Se Ui, the operator of the controversial HoverLab YouTube channel, is suspected of plotting to use the late Kim Sae Ron's mother as a witness to reduce his prison term. This allegation arose after an informant claimed to have been in contact with Kim while in detention.
On May 31, YouTuber Jangsin released a recording of the informant claiming to have been in the same cell as Kim Se Ui for two to three days. The informant stated, "A man who spent two or three days in detention with Kim Se Ui contacted me immediately after his release. I decided to reveal this because I believe it is in the public interest."
In the recording, the informant claimed, "I was in the same detention facility as Kim Se Ui for three days. He said the maximum detention period is six months and that if he requests a jury trial, he could be released in about three months." The informant also stated that Kim planned to call Kim Sae Ron's mother as a witness, with the goal of making the public see her as a party involved in the matter.
The informant added, "She argued that it was unfair that only she was arrested while several others were also involved, and she believed she would eventually be able to get out of this situation." After playing the recording, Jangsin criticized Kim, stating, "If this cellmate's claims are true, it's shocking. Isn't she just figuring out how to get out of this by exploiting the jury trial system and the grieving family?"
Jangsin then invited responses from the parties involved, adding, "If any of these claims are untrue, we encourage Kim Se Ui's side to contact us. We also welcome comments from Kim Sae Ron's grieving family." This development comes after the Seoul Central District Court issued an arrest warrant for Kim Se Ui on May 26. He faces various charges, including defamation and distribution of illegally recorded content under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.
However, because these allegations are only sourced from unverified former cellmates, there is no confirmation that Kim actually made the statements. In the meantime, K-drama fans can watch the latest episodes for free on Amasian TV.
