Former swimming athlete Park Tae Hwan was a guest star on the latest episode of the program "Heo Young Man's Food Travel" which aired on July 14. In that episode, the athlete revealed his closeness to Kim Hye Yoon before starring in "Lovely Runner".
Tae Hwan initially shared his habit of eating up to 7-8 times a day. However, he is now trying to reduce his eating habits. MC Young Man also joked that today's food bill might be high because of Tae Hwan's big appetite.
The MC then asked how Tae Hwan could star in "Lovely Runner", even though he only had a cameo. The athlete said that he was actually Hye Yoon's friend. "We became friends after appearing at the event together," he said.
Tae Hwan also said that he was the one who taught Hye Yoon to swim when the actress visited the academy. "He came to my swimming academy several times to learn to swim from me, and we stayed in touch," he continued.
Because of the friendly relationship between them, Hye Yoon asked Tae Hwan to star in "Lovely Runner" as a cameo. "Kim Hye Yoon asked me to appear in a drama she was working on, and that's why I ended up there," said Tae Hwan.
In "Lovely Runner", Tae Hwan is shown as a swimming athlete who was initially Ryu Sun Jae's (Byeon Woo Seok) opponent. The man finally became an Olympic winner, while Sun Jae had to give up his dream due to injury.
The character played by Tae Hwan only appears briefly and has almost no interaction with Im Sol (Hye Yoon). They only met once when Im Sol went to the swimming pool. However, Im Sol only focuses on Sun Jae and doesn't really care about Tae Hwan. (wk/charity)
