Sooyoung celebrated her 32nd birthday (33 years by Korean reckoning) on February 10. This is the second year the owner's full name Choi Sooyoung is entering her 30s.
As in previous weeks, the WowKeren editorial team again reviewed the career journey of South Korean stars through the weekly column Birthday Spotlight. This time, the popular singer and actress who graced the Birthday Spotlight column was Girls' Generation's Sooyoung.
Sooyoung is a singer, actress, and songwriter. He was a member of the short-lived Korean-Japanese singing duo Route 0 during 2002 in Japan. After returning to South Korea in 2004, Sooyoung finally became a member of the girl group Girls' Generation in 2007.

1. Pre-Debut
Sooyoung was born in Gwangju, Gyeonggi, South Korea, on February 10, 1990. She is the younger sister of Choi Soo Jin, who is a musical theater actress. Sooyoung was originally discovered through the SM Entertainment Open Audition when she was in 5th grade. He then won first place at the 2002 Korea-Japan Ultra Idol Duo Audition and debuted in Japan as a member of Route 0. The duo released three singles before disbanding in 2003.
Sooyoung returned to SM Entertainment and eventually debuted in South Korea as a member of the girl group Girls' Generation in August 2007. The group gained significant popularity with the release of their hit single "Gee" in 2009. Sooyoung said in an interview that she also interested in acting before debuting as a singer and has failed more than 70 auditions during her pre-debut days.
2. DebutSM Entertainment, Newsen
Together with other Girls' Generation members, Sooyoung officially debuted by appearing on the music program "Inkigayo" on August 5, 2007 performing the debut song "Into the New World". The song received a warm response from the public.
In November 2007, Girls' Generation continued their success by releasing their first full album titled "Girls' Generation" with the title song of the same name which is a remake of Lee Seung Cheol's song. In March 2008, the album was re-released under the title "Baby Baby".
3. Peak CareerSM Entertainment
Girls' Generation's name was immediately widely known among the public after they released the mini album "Gee" on January 7, 2009. The title song, which is also titled "Gee", has successfully topped the annual music chart and led them to win 9 "Music Bank" trophies.
Girls' Generation released their second mini album entitled "Genie" in June 2009 with the title track of the same name. This success continued with the release of the second full album titled "Oh!" which spawned the hit song "Oh!". In the same year, Girls' Generation joined Nayutawave Records which marked the start of their activities in Japan.
In October 2011, Girls' Generation released their third full album entitled "The Boys". Their career in Japan was also glorious, where Girls' Generation won the Album of the Year award at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2012 and received certification from the RIAJ after the Japanese album "Girls' Generation" sold 1 million copies.

In early August 2017, Sooyoung became a television producer on the JTBC web drama "Someone You Might Know". Then in August, she played the female lead in the MBC drama series "Man in the Kitchen".
In November 2017, Sooyoung joined Echo Global Group after her contract with SM Entertainment expired. With the label change, her future activities with Girls' Generation remain under discussion.
In 2018, Sooyoung was cast in the Korean-Japanese film "Memories of a Dead End", the action comedy film "Girl Cops", and the romantic comedy television series "So I Married the Anti-fan" based on the manhwa of the same name, together Choi Tae Joon.
In December 2018, Sooyoung released her solo single, "Winter Breath," which was her first song released since her departure from SM Entertainment, with the song's music video available online the same day. Sooyoung launched her official Twitter and YouTube accounts to commemorate the single's release.
In May 2019, Sooyoung signed with a new agency, Saram Entertainment. In February 2020, Sooyoung starred in the OCN drama "Tell Me What You Saw". In 2020–2021, Sooyoung starred in the JTBC romantic drama "Run On". On April 30, 2021, Korean media reported that Sooyoung would appear in the Netflix original series "Move to Heaven: I am a relic organizer".

During her dozen years of career in the entertainment industry, Sooyoung has never been hit by a serious controversy that threatens her career. This shows how the singer really cares about his reputation and keeps himself from doing anything illegal that will damage his image.
Sooyoung had become public attention after her love affair with actor Jung Kyung Ho was revealed. Until now, the couple has been in a relationship for many years and many people are waiting for the happy news that the lovebirds will continue their relationship to the level of marriage.

The latest news mentions that Sooyoung made a cameo in TV Chosun's drama production entitled "Uncle". Sooyoung's appearance in this drama is a form of her support for scriptwriter Park Jisook, who she worked with in the drama "My Blooming Life" which aired in 2014.
In the future, Sooyoung will certainly continue to be active in the acting field by starring in dramas and films. Even so, it is possible that she will also participate if Girls' Generation returns to activities, as she and the other members previously promised.
