On January 3, 2022, Kep1er, which consists of 9 top winners from the Mnet program, Girls Planet 999, has officially joined the entertainment world by debuting through the song "WA DA DA" and releasing the album and music video.
After previously setting their first record to become the girl group with the highest debut album sales in K-Pop history (via data released by Hanteo), Kep1er's FIRST IMPACT album now has more than 200 thousand copies of album sales in one week, from 3 January to 9 January.
Kep1er also managed to bring their name to the rookie girl group that has the highest total album sales, beating IVE which previously held the record. It is known that there were only 3 girl groups – apart from Kep1er – which broke 100 thousand copies for their debut album sales, including AESPA with 276,877 copies, IVE with 152,229 copies and BLACKPINK with 102,001 copies.
Meanwhile, Kep1er itself was delayed for its debut, which was previously targeted to release FIRST IMPACT at the end of 2021, to be precise on December 14th. However, because there were several members who contracted COVID-19, Kep1er postponed their debut in early 2022.
