Netflix will soon present the latest Korean sci-fi thriller series entitled The Silent Sea on December 24. Set in a future when Earth is running out of resources, the series tells of an elite team on a mission to go to the abandoned research center of Balhae on the moon. With only a 10 percent chance of survival, one by one the team members were killed in the research center.
Ahead of its release, The Silent Sea released its first trailer, which opened with a barren earth condition and all living things are threatened with extinction due to depletion of resources. The Korea Aeronautics and Space Agency finds the answer to human survival and devises a plan to send an elite team on an exploration mission to the moon. The team consists of astrobiologist Song Jian (Bae Doona), team leader Han Yunjae (Gong Yoo), chief engineer Ryu Taesuk (Lee Joon), medical team Dok Hong (Kim Sun-young), security chief Gong Soohyuk (Lee Mu-saeng). ), as well as pilot Kim Hee Sun (Lee Sung-wook). Their destination was the Balhae Moon Research Station which had been closed five years ago due to an accident.
The team took off into space with an important mission to collect valuable samples at the station and return to earth. Unfortunately, their spacecraft had to make an emergency landing on the moon before reaching their destination. The team members soon realize that the Balhae Moon Research Station is shrouded in mystery when they discover a number of mysteriously dead human remains, as well as the appearance of a life signal that ends up wreaking havoc.
Meanwhile, Song Jian begins to doubt the government's statement that Balhae Station was closed due to an accident and is suspicious of various secrets at the station. Tension continues to surround the entire team, especially when one member begins to vomit water from inside his body. Various attempts to escape from the station and contact the outside world keep failing, until they are trapped in a secret room.
As the first Korean sci-fi thriller series, The Silent Sea is ready to present the atmosphere of outer space and the moon filled with eerie silence. The dangerous mission to uncover a dark secret on the moon will pique viewers' curiosity about the mysteries of the Lonely Sea, as well as whether the team members can return to Earth safely.
