In 2018, rapper Loco and MAMAMOO Hwasa's collaboration song "Don't" topped the charts and immediately became a hit. The song is still loved today and the producer behind it revealed how it came to be.

On the latest episode of “The K-Pop Daebak Show”, Eric Nam invited H1GHR Music producer Woogie, where he talked about all the different songs he produced. He was then asked about his 2018 hit song, “Don’t”, and also asked to share how the song came to be.

"In terms of K-Pop, I think a lot of people have listened to 'Don't' by Loco and Hwasa. It was a big hit internationally. How was the song produced? What's it like behind the scenes ??" Asked Eric Nam.

Woogie revealed that the song was made on the show "The Hyena On The Keyboard", a program where several singers and producers show the entire process of how a song is finished and then release the songs as digital singles. He talked about how it was a difficult and “drama” full process, as this was his first appearance on a show.

Woogie then revealed that he was ultimately only doing his best to accept Hwasa and Loco's opinions equally to produce this masterpiece. "The song was made in a program called 'The Hyena On The Keyboard'," said Woogie.

“It was our last appearance on the show, and we only had 2 weeks to produce it as well. We are in a situation where we have to think things through in those 2 weeks. It was our first time meeting Hwasa, and it was also my first time appearing on broadcast. "It was 2 difficult weeks, I don't know what to do," he said.

“I'm struggling with how to make Loco and Hwasa shine. The viewership ratings for the show weren't very high at that time either, but we decided to ignore all of that and create a song that's fun to enjoy. We thought about the whole song on the broadcast. I tried to make a song that Loco and Hwasa liked, and the result was like that, "said Woogie.

The struggle and sacrifice of the three were not in vain. Shortly after its release, "Don't" managed to top the Gaon Digital Music Charts of South Korea. The song then earned Platinum certification for 100 million streams in January 2019 and again for 2.5 million downloads in August 2018. (wk / daughter)
