Apart from being talented in singing and dancing, the members of WINNER (II) are also known to have released many songs. Not only for their own groups, they also often write songs for other singers, no wonder their abilities are recognized by the Korean music copyright association.
Today, Wednesday (27/1), the Korean Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) announced the songwriters who have been promoted to full members this year. One of them is 2 WINNER members namely Kang Seung Yoon and Song Min Ho (Mino).
KOMCA is a non-profit copyright association that aims to enhance the culture of music in Korea through protecting the intellectual property rights of copyright holders while ensuring ease of use for listeners. Founded in 1964, this organization maintains a database of copyrighted works and their intellectual property holders.
Any copyright holder can join KOMCA as a "junior member", but the board of directors only elects 25 junior members each year to be promoted to "official member" status. There were 22 members selected from the mainstream category, while the remaining three were selected from the non-mainstream category.
The requirements for promotion to full member status include maintaining junior KOMCA membership for three years or more, receiving a certain amount of royalties from their copyrighted property each year, and also being elected by the board of directors. Becoming a full member of KOMCA gives the artist the right to vote at the general meetings of the organization.
The members who are promoted to full members in 2021 are Kang Seung Yoon and WINNER's Song Mino. In addition, Sunwoo JungA, Changmo, Loco, Roy Kim, Maktub, and others were promoted to full members of KOMCA.
Last year, artists who were full members of KOMCA included RM (Rap Monster) and J-Hope BTS (Bangtan Boys) Paul Kim, Jay Park, Giriboy, and many more. Next year, it is hoped that 25 more musicians will be appointed as permanent members of KOMCA.
On the other hand, YG Entertainment has just confirmed that Seung Yoon will soon be releasing his first full solo album. The album is further scheduled for release in March. The agency said that Seung Yoo had finished recording all the songs and was now focusing on the MV.
