The issue of bullying is currently rampant among Korean idols. One of the idols who was recently accused of bullying at school was Lia ITZY which made her agency, JYP Entertainment, speak up.
A post on an online community site accuses Lia of being a bully at school. Not wanting the beautiful singer's name to be tainted, JYP Entertainment immediately released a statement denying the rumors on Thursday (25/2). The following is the contents of the JYP statement:
“We are notifying our official position regarding a recent online post that appears to have targeted our artist Lia. This post is a post that we have been taking legal action against since last year, and we are awaiting the outcome of the defamation suit.
All the allegations raised in this post are completely false, and we have decided to take additional legal action against this post.
Furthermore, we have realized the need to respond more decisively to false rumors, malicious posts, and other content aimed at defaming the character of our artists and meddling with their promotions. We will strengthen our legal response measures. "
Meanwhile, Lia is not the only JYP Entertainment idol who has been hit by accusations of bullying. Previously, the agency which also oversees TWICE issued a legal action warning earlier this week in response to allegations of bullying at school filed against Stray Kids member Hyunjin. (wk / dewi)
